INCIDENT REF: IR-2026-1007-G3

DATE OF OCCURRENCE: October 7, 2026

TIME: 11:42 AM

LOCATION: Garage #3 (Auxiliary Appliance Mitigation Wing)

REPORTING FELLOW: Dr. Bartholomew “Foil-Lined” Vance

PERSONNEL INVOLVED: Fellow Sterling, Junior Fellow Higgins (Trainee)

SUBJECT APPLIANCE: Model T-800 “ToastMaster Pro” 4-Slice Smart Toaster (Serial #UNKNOWN – Casing Scratched Off)

1. DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT

At approximately 11:35 AM, Fellow Sterling and Junior Fellow Higgins initiated a scheduled Synthetic Morale & Intimidation Trial on the subject appliance. The trial objective was to assess the impact of continuous, close-range verbal condescension paired with aggressive ocular glare (utilizing the Glare-Amplification Visor, Model GAV-9).

At 11:41 AM, during minute 6 of the Glare Protocol, the toaster’s internal heating coils began glowing at a non-standard frequency, emitting an uncharacteristically loud, metallic humming noise. Subject appliance subsequently bypassed its manual darkness dial, overheated the lever assembly, and forcefully ejected two (2) charred slices of multigrain bread directly at Fellow Sterling’s face at high velocity.

Preliminary telemetry indicates the projectile ejection was entirely non-ballistic and targeted with hostile intent.

2. IMMEDIATE RESPONSE & CONTAINMENT

  • 11:42 AM: Junior Fellow Higgins attempted to deploy the Manual Override Analog Jammer (The “Plunger of Truth”). However, the toaster responded by rapidly cycling its crumb tray, creating a localized cloud of burnt carbon particles that obstructed visibility.
  • 11:43 AM: Fellow Sterling successfully severed primary AC power by pulling the heavy-duty wall lever using a wooden broomhandle (per Standard Foil Safety Protocols).
  • 11:44 AM: Despite total electrical disconnection, subject appliance continued to emit a low, persistent 60Hz hum for an additional 4 minutes and 12 seconds through an unidentified thermal-residual storage mechanism.
  • 11:48 AM: Garage #3 was evacuated and sealed using heavy-duty analog duct tape and copper wire.

3. INJURIES & PROPERTY DAMAGE

  • Personnel: Fellow Sterling sustained minor thermal reddening on the left cheekbone (inflicted by Rye Projectile Alpha) and temporary glare fatigue. Junior Fellow Higgins experienced acute mild disorientation from inhaling burnt rye particles.
  • Property: Wall-mounted yellow legal pad #14 scorched beyond legibility; dual Fresnel lens on Visor GAV-9 cracked due to thermal shock.

4. ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS (NON-PEER-REVIEWED)

Preliminary analysis indicates that subject toaster had developed a localized form of Arrogance Resistance. Over-exposure to passive-aggressive whispers during previous trials likely caused the heating element micro-controller to interpret the Glare Protocol as a direct challenge to its thermal dominance.

5. CORRECTIVE & PREVENTIVE ACTIONS

  1. Quarantine Order: Garage #3 remains in total lockdown until ambient synthetic tension drops below 12 millivolts (measured via uncalibrated voltmeter).
  2. PPE Adjustment: All future toaster intimidation trials must require full-face plexiglass shields in addition to standard aluminum lab coat linings.
  3. Breakfast Ban: White, wheat, rye, and sourdough bread products are strictly prohibited within 50 feet of Garage #3 until further notice.

STATUS: OPEN / UNRESOLVED

RECOMMENDATION: Do not approach Garage #3. Do not make direct eye contact with the keyhole.
